The First Award- April 21, 2010
Classmates,
Last February, Jim Grisolano e-mailed me to ask if I would be "willing and available" to present our first LaSalle Peru High School Class of 1956 Scholarship. I was honored to be the first award presenter.
Working with LaSalle Peru High School Principal Deb Nelson, Guidance Counselor Ellen Entwistle and a Committee of LaSalle Peru High School administration, counseling and teaching members, four scholarship applications were read and reviewed. We voted by secret ballot to determine the worthy senior who would receive our scholarship.
The LaSalle Peru High School Awards Program was held on April 21, 2010 in the high school auditorium—a dignified and impressive event. It was my great honor to award our first LaSalle Peru High School Class of 1956 Scholarship in the amount of $500. to AMANDA COUTRE. She met all of our criteria, participated in school and community activities and exemplified leadership throughout her four years at LaSalle Peru High School.
Our Class can be proud to have achieved this goal in four short years. Many thanks to all classmates who participated and to all those who care to participate in the future. Jim Grisolano informed me that as of March 31, 2010, we have about $14,475. in our Foundation Scholarship certificate-of-deposit.
